What Is PPC And How Did It Start?

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

It’s very important for advertisers to reach audience and pull them in. As such, there are many ways to get customers, such as pay per click or PPC advertising. If you’re wondering “What is PPC?” you can start to understand it in becoming familiar with the world of advertising itself. This field has come a long way from where it was and the problems it suffered when it first came about. Check how to make quick money for more information on affiliate marketing.

As already mentioned, if you were a seller, advertising could be a tricky business. You might pay to have an ad placed somewhere only to find that it brings you no business. Since only a small percentage of viewers actually buy anything, you really need to get viewers in the first place. You certain don’t want to have to keep throwing money away.

The amount you would have to pay depended on several things, but in the end, if it wasn’t worth it, it just wasn’t worth it. People began wanting a different option more and more, and they finally found it in pay per click advertising. Here, you could get your advertising in the way you wanted, and the situation was changed for the better.

It seems we first started to see these trends when Google AdSense was released by the home company in 1999. Google was already becoming a recognized and growing name at that point in terms of their search engine capabilities, so it was only natural they extended themselves even further. Now advertisers could work with good keywords.

Besides offering improved selling terms this program also made it so that people could get matched up with websites and ad locations that are relevant to the types of thing they were selling. There was no price to pay up front - rather, they would be as they went, and only for the amount of people who actually clicked to look at the product they were selling.

Obviously it saves a lot of money to not have to pay for more than you need to. Yet website owners had their own reasons to appreciate the program, because they benefited a lot from the program as well. In putting ads in many places and bringing a lot of people to their sites, they managed to still make considerable profits from this process.

Many actually made is just one of many websites that might not survive without it. There’s no reason for it to go away though - everybody gets what they want, whether it be attention for their product or a profit.

By now, it should be easy to see why people appreciate this tool so much. Of course, there are other options as well, but Google AdSense is the first and is still considered to be one of the best. No matter what, though, it’s important to recognize all there is to offer in terms of PPC, no matter what aspect of online business you are involved in yourself.
